Description

Economic Geology 101 is a course for beginners in exploration geology, people requiring a basic understanding of ore deposits, students, and anyone who is inquisitive about mineral deposits and how these form.

The course provides an overview of the three major rock types (igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks), and introduces the geologic processes that form or influence ore deposits. In this course, you will learn about ore deposits that are typical for various metals, including abundant metals (iron, manganese, titanium) as well as scarce base (nickel, copper, lead, zinc) and precious (platinum group elements, gold and silver) metals. World-renowned deposits are described and illustrated with numerous figures and photographs.

This course is based on the Geological Framework for the Business of Exploration and Mining, authored by David Groves, produced by Market Motion Media.

Enjoyed the coarse immensely. Noticed Timmin's is spelled incorrectly in one place.

You guys really need to update this course - both the content and the technology/ format is now woefully out of date. A lot of the material is still relevant but you need to update a lot of the market information. Also many of the images are too small to read and could not be enlarged which was very frustrating as it made them useless. In this era of new learning management software there are many service providers that could create a better product for you. This and the other course I did was interesting but it was not good value for money.
